STYLE ADVICE: Sweater Dress Savvy

The year 2017 is here and so are your New Year’s resolutions! One very popular resolution that I myself am attempting to stick to is minimalism. I have been decluttering my life and my closet for the new semester and through this seemingly never ending process, I have made some interesting discoveries. I’ve come to appreciate the versatility of basics and the wonders of carefully curated statement pieces. If you’re looking to keep your closet to a minimum all while serving endless looks this semester, I have some good style advice for you.

Neutral colors are a must when working with a smaller closet than you’re used to. As a student, I am always on the go. I can have several places that I need to be in just one day, all of which may require particular dress codes. A basic color palette consisting of beiges and grays make day-to-night outfits a great option for a Fashionista on the go. If you really want to spice up your look, try adding a colorful clutch to make sure your look stands out.

My favorite winter wardrobe staple, hands down, has to be the sweater dress. It’s versatility combined with its comfort and style make it hard to beat when sticking to a minimalist aesthetic. For example, add a pair of thigh high boots and a faux fur vest and you’re dressed up and ready for a dinner date with your best friends. Swap the boots for a pair of skinny jeans and some slip on sneakers and you have a look perfect for running errands. There are so many ways to dress up or dress down a sweater dress that I can’t help but rave about it.

Don’t be afraid to downsize your closet. Embrace the versatility of basics and have fun adding your own personal touch to that sweater dress. Until next time, Fashionistas!
