STYLE ADVICE: Rad Winter

Winter is in full effect here in New York City. It’s so cold, that people would rather be home than outside. We all dream about being able to stay home on a freezing day to drink hot chocolate and binge on Netflix series. However, priorities such as work and school must be taken care of and we have to go out and face the weather.

A lot of people complain that they dislike winter because they don’t get to show off their style. In the winter we are forced to bundle up. We have to wear a coat and sometimes also a scarf, gloves, and a hat or ear warmer. However, the reality is that winter shouldn’t be a deterrent for dressing up in a stylish way.

On my way to class I spotted a perfect example that proved that winter is not the season of “looking bad.”  Here this Fashionista is wearing what I call the scarf sweater in the color lavender. She pairs this cute sweater with a burgundy jacket from H&M. This sweater is perfect for the winter because it covers the neck, thus, a scarf isn’t necessary. The sweater and jacket work well together because it is no lie that different shades of the same color always look good together. She adds on to this color scheme by wearing a mauve lippie color (in this case there are three shades of purple in play). To give the outfit some flair, she wore a black crossbody purse and an old-fashioned, but cute, name necklace.

Overall, this look proved to me that in the winter we could bundle up and still look good. This Fashionista was able to stay both warm and trendy, and I bet you could too. This winter take a risk and go for a pink or even an orange jacket rather than the typical black. Play with the colors!

This is my advice to you. I hope you have an amazing winter!
