STYLE ADVICE: Over the Edge

My mom always says that fashion trends constantly repeat themselves and boy was she right. In the last couple of years, we’ve seen the resurgence of high-waisted jeans, bell bottoms, chokers, platform heels, and throwback jerseys.

But in 2016, we were reintroduced to some of our parents’ favorite bands: Thrasher, ACDC, and Metallica. Two thousand and sixteen was the year when bleached band T-shirts and thigh high boots were rampant in the fashion community, and just when I thought I had seen the trend styled every possible way, I spotted this Fashionista.

One word for her outfit—OBSESSED.

I was in total awe when I first saw her. What drew me into her outfit was that she incorporated multiple trends, but it wasn’t overkill. The outfit wasn’t overkill because she kept the color scheme simple — black and white with a pop of red (the bleach doesn’t really count as a color). Additionally, I love that she wasn’t afraid to mix edgy pieces with girly dainty pieces. She rocks a T-shirt from Thrd Wlrd, spandex shorts, an oversized flannel, thigh high lace-up booties, and a fur choker from Thrd Wlrd. This Fashionista is just oozing with tomboy-chic edginess. Even her hair, makeup, and tattoos add a level of edge that not everyone can achieve.

I wouldn’t change much about this outfit because it is damn near perfect, but for colder cities I’d swap out the shorts for black jeans (most likely high-waisted), add a leather jacket, and wear closed-toed booties. If you’re going for a more casual look, swap the booties for your favorite pair of high-top sneakers.
