STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: When in Doubt, Wear Flannel

November 15th, 2016 at 2:00am

In Lexington, fall is delayed and many people are struggling with what to wear. Mornings are cold, and afternoons are hot. For students this has created an issue on the most practical way to stay in style. Layering is a great way to beat the morning breeze and conquer the afternoon sun. For men, fashion is not always a top priority, but there are a few easy steps to stay in style this fall with minimal maintenance.

This Fashionisto is wearing a long sleeve flannel shirt, a light brown leather jacket, casual gray pants and dark brown, weathered boots.

Wanna recreate this look? First, grab your go-to pants; whether these are jeans or casual pants–both will work for this look. Second, you will need a top. Flannels are always an easy way to follow the latest trends, and it can easily be altered to fit your personal style with the simple step of layering. Feeling more preppy? Grab a vest and throw it over your flannel. Feeling more edgy like this Fashionisto? Wear some leather over it instead. For the last part of your look, you will need some boots. Brown is an easy fall color to match with your outfit, but you could always switch it up for black boots–or even some Converse to match the color of your flannel and give you a more casual look.

Want to carry this look into winter? Layer more. As it starts to get colder, layering on a scarf or hat not only keeps you warmer but allows you to express your style even more as more layers are added on.
