STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Trailblazing

November 30th, 2015 at 2:06am

While the 2016 presidential election is heating up, the weather is cooling down here in the nation’s capital. It’s time to dig out the chunky scarves, fuzzy sweaters and wool-lined leggings because we’re officially well into fall. Fall is my favorite season for fashion because it gives room for so much risk. From exaggerated layering to the rainbow of fall colors, there are so many ways to get inspired this season.

I came across this Fashionista as she was shopping through the cobblestone streets of Georgetown on a chilly fall day. The first thing that caught my eye was her stunning, merlot-colored blazer. Merlot, Bordeaux and for 2015, Marsala, are all deep red Pantone colors that have graced their yearly color report. While I’m convinced that each year it’s the same red and they just change the name, it has been a consistent must-have color for the past few years. This Fashionista absolutely rocked it in her oversized blazer, which she subbed-in for a jacket.

The oversized nature of the blazer allows for awesome layering and is also a stark contrast to her jeans’ higher waistline. She tucked in a plain T-shirt to the pair of blue skinnies, which look stunning under the deep red of the blazer. Her shoes complement the rest of the outfit by bringing in a dark leather tone. They’re chunky yet chic lace-up booties, perfect to finish off any fall look.

While this Fashionista kept her accessories minimal, she did include a little fur in her look! Check out the fun poof-ball this Fashionista clipped onto her satchel as a special addition. These cute and fuzzy clip-ons are a great way to keep your accessories simple on your person, but have a little fun on either your keychain or bag.

Get inspired by this Fashionista. From the use of fall colors to the poof-ball accessory, this Fashionista has everything you need to fully grasp the amazing concept that is fall fashion.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Less is more! You don’t need to load up on tons of accessories. I’m a firm believer in letting the clothing speak for itself. Between a variety of colors and textures within your outfit, your best accessory will be your smile!”
