STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The '70s Screams Boho

June 16th, 2016 at 2:00am

RetroWaste defines the ’70s as an “all-around fun era.” The decade was iconic for their small top silhouette and an oversized bottom. From Cher’s vibrant, oversized dresses to the bell sleeves worn by Charlie’s Angels, the 1970s has inspired a number of garments we often see flaunted today, including the “casual chic look.”

This boho-inspired blouse is the trend to look out for this season. With its bell sleeve and oversized fit, designers are looking to the ’70s as inspiration in their boho styles. Not to mention the cutout geometric pieces in the front and back, which pinpoint the young, modern market and their main goal to show some skin. One important feature that also makes this blouse a perfect piece is the middle slit in the back. This feature has been seen on several garments this season and I love the idea. Not only does the wearer of the garment receive some warmth from the long sleeves and comfy fabric, but they can even feel the cool breeze from the back.

In addition to the boho blouse, this cool Fashionista kept with the theme by adding a slightly flared pants and tan clogs. Unfortunately, I was unable to add a peace sign pose to the mix, which is the special signature for that ’70s girl. This Fashionista’s look is spot on. I would even suggest an even wider bottom simply because anything from the past is working in the present. However, when wearing a blouse such as this one, it becomes the star of the outfit. Stay away from tricky bottoms or wild shoes. A cool necklace is just enough to give this outfit just what it needs to be casual chic.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When wearing ’70s-inspired clothing, remember to keep it simple and chic. A blouse with this many features only requires a denim bell bottom with heeled shoes to make it beautiful.”
