STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Style Advice of the Year

It’s December, the semester is wrapping up and shortly, we’ll be saying goodbye to 2016 and ringing in the new year. Where did the time go? Hours were split between studying, interning and of course, mixing in a little bit of fun, but those hours spread thin amounted to an entire semester. It’s incredible the amount of work we’ve accomplished and the growth we’ve all had as individuals. A lot has changed over this semester, and yet, a person’s individual style can remain the same. Sure, outfits change and we mix in trends here and there, but sometimes going back to your own wardrobe staples can help you recognize that when it comes down to it, you’re still you—even after a stressful semester.

This Fashionista, spotted during finals week, stays true to her own style and wears pieces that complement her. She starts off with a distressed pair of denim and a light blue cable knit sweater as the base of her outfit. Both simplistic and classic pieces in her wardrobe, she feels like herself wearing them. Next, she layers on a beautiful black leather jacket with zipper detailing and slips on her black Steve Madden sneakers. To finish the outfit off, she adds accessories like her rumba watch and a delicate necklace. Though both subtle pieces, they make an immense impact, differentiating and personalizing her outfit.

Though the semester, as well as the year, may be coming to a close, remember that your style is something that can remain the same. That’s not to say that you won’t try out different looks from time to time and experiment with new pieces, but your style should evolve as you do. And with that evolution, comes subtle changes seen over time.

Here’s to 2016, Style Gurus.
