STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Strut Your Shift

To start, this Fashionista looks fabulous even on this gloomy, slightly chilly day. I admire her dedication. What caught my eye about this look is the bold pattern. It definitely stands out in a crowd when everyone else is going about their day in solid colors. While this dress looks black and white from a distance, the pattern is actually shades of teal with gray, white and black. Tank top shift dresses have been all the rage this summer. The flowy, lightweight design of these kinds of dresses is what makes them so great in the summer heat. This southern belle totally rocks this outfit. Not only is this dress great for combatting the southern heat, it is also extremely flattering. The vertical pattern elongates her body’s stature and the spaghetti strap top and V-neck front adds just the perfect amount of appeal, but still remains classy. For this dress she chose to wear a simple black T-strap gladiator sandal and a gold monogrammed necklace. Her simple sandals don’t distract from the bold pattern and the monogrammed necklace  draws attention to the neckline. This outfit is perfect for out around town and if she decides to go out for the night, she can throw on a pair or wedges to dress it up and add a bit of “ooh la la.”

While this outfit is absolutely perfect for the summer time it can be worn into the early fall as well. This outfit can be transitioned into fall just by adding a denim jacket.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “Well I didn’t pack many accessories with me, so I didn’t get to wear much jewelry but I’m big on accessories…necklaces, arm candy, rings, clutches and shoes. I always love to coordinate them to my outfits. There’s a quote [by Michael Kors] that I practically live by: ‘Accessories are the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit.’ You can never have too many accessories and they can make any outfit go from drab to fab. Also, I love accessories because you can dress up or dress down any outfit just by the way you accessorize it! Not to mention, that you have more freedom to express yourself and your style. So yeah, definitely use accessories to your advantage. If I could redo the pic, I would probably be wearing a beige summery hat because I think those look so cute with spaghetti strap shift dresses.”
