STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Street Kickin’ It

Now that the seasons are beginning to change between summer and fall, Fashionistas are bringing out their cooler weather threads, while still keeping it light with consideration to the end of summer weather. With nearly a month left to prepare for New York Fashion Week, it is the perfect time to hit the streets and get inspiration for this momentous time of year.

More than ever, street style trends have become even more relevant in fashion; and what staple makes the biggest statement? Shoes. We have boots, flats and heels, but none have made a larger impact than sneakers.

Many have seen adidas resurface as a popular brand, and this Fashionista is right on trend. Sneakers like these can be paired with any outfit, from midi dresses to denim or even a pair of tailored trousers. Pairing some sneakers with your outfit is the perfect way to balance masculine and feminine, and can even downplay some of your fancier threads. Want to step out in a day dress without looking too proper or wear your athletic gear without looking too shabby? Throw on a pair of your coolest trainers. Playing with style is one of the most creative ways to express yourself, so don’t feel nervous to switch it up and even step outside of your usual comfort zone.

This Fashionista took to the streets downtown after a long day at work, in a simple-yet-edgy look. She paired a plain grey T-shirt with a pair of black joggers that had just enough pattern detail in the pockets. Of course she then sealed the outfit off with none other than a pair of adidas baseline sneakers. Adding a clean pair of sneakers makes a bold statement in the same way that a big necklace or even hat would, without taking away from the simplicity.

To finish off the look, she added a few of her favorite rings, a simple loop necklace, diamond studs and her favorite shade of lipstick for a bold pop of red. Just the right amount of color takes an outfit to the next level, while still looking effortless.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think that shoes can make or break an outfit, and I’m the type of person that will silently judge you on your shoes. If you’re wearing an outfit where there’s a specific theme or style you’re going for, your shoes needs to match. Just like for my outfit, I thought my adidas were the best choice.”
