STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simply Classic

Fall is just around the corner which means that it’s almost the time of the year when you can play around and have fun with layers and coats. Every year, fall/winter collections shine light on new and reoccurring outerwear trends. This year new trends that we saw include a lot of fur, puffy silhouettes, peacoats and creamy hues, just to name a few. Some reoccurring trends like the bomber jacket, shearling and oversized jackets made an appearance on the runway as well.

Jackets and coats are an important aspect to putting an outfit together. Not only in terms of practicality and keeping warm, but it can really make or break an outfit. For this reason I always find it extremely hard to decide on what kind of outerwear to purchase. You want to find something that is unique and trendy, but also versatile with the other items that are in your closet. That’s when a classic jacket like a blazer or a trench coat comes in handy.

This Fashionista wears a light longline blazer over a simple outfit, which is perfect for a crisp autumn day. This open-front jacket is also great for layering. Here you can see that this Fashionista layered her jacket with a white ribbed turtleneck top and a blue bodycon skirt. By keeping her outfit nice and simple the jacket stands out just enough to draw attention but prevents the outfit from being over-the-top. By incorporating trendy items like the ribbed turtleneck top, she manages to keep her outfit in style for the season while also maintaining a classic look overall. The gold accessories and ankle strap kitten pumps also adds to the classic and iconic vibe to the outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t over-accessorize. Just keep it simple and let the outfit speak for itself. When in doubt, go back to the basics.”
