STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simply Chic

February 5th, 2015 at 2:00am

When people think of fashion, they think of bold prints, loud colors and accessories galore. However, your own personal style does not have to reflect these characteristics to be considered ‘fashionable.’ Some of the chicest players in the game, like this Fashionista, are notorious for rocking some basic solids. Although on the shelf at the store they may seem dull, depending on how you pair these pieces together, you can easily create a really stylish and trendy look.

This Fashionista goes for a smooth monochromatic look by pairing a simple gray T-shirt with an equally simple navy cardigan. Her jeans, made of pale denim, are a piece everyone and their mother can rock. Her entire look makes her look confident in her style; she clearly knows how to color code and be extremely chic.

When using simple pieces, like long sleeve V-necks, it is important not to be too dull. Try to layer like this Fashionista. There are plenty of solid sweaters out there for my fellow Fashionistos that will also be a great addition to a simple wardrobe, or even a wardrobe full of loud patterns. If you are not willing to make the plunge and wear a fully solid piece, a nice baseball tee can be a good choice that will still be simple enough to create a nice, casual look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love wearing basic pieces because they can be worn every season. Not only that, it is really easy to mix-and-match when you’re wearing solid-colored clothing.”
