STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Seeing Green

Hello, Fashionistas/os! I hope you are all keeping warm and trendy as December approaches. With the semester winding down and finals coming up quicker than we expected, it’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! As I am cramming for finals and completing my term projects, I couldn’t help but be inspired by all the stylish Fashionistas/os that are embracing this weather and hitting all of the classic winter trends. My personal favorites that I’ve been spotting here at FIT are the blanket scarves, military inspiration, and the bomber jacket. This Fashionista was awesome enough to model her winter style and proved to be the queen of everything green!

I love how she wasn’t afraid to mix patterns and textures with her outfit. The military-camo boyfriend T-shirt she purchased from H&M flows symbiotically with her squared cream and black blanket scarf from Old Navy. The beauty of these scarves is that you can wear it anyway you want to. You can wrap it, belt it, layer it and twist it to make every #OOTD even cozier. Keeping warm, she layers her outfit with a frost-free quilted parka, lined with Sherpa. The additional built-in-layer with rib knitting traps warmth and allows this Fashionista to enjoy the winter in NYC in style.

It is safe to say that 2016 was the year of the bomber jacket. No longer confined by its military roots, the bomber has made itself a true fashion essential. It has been seen on almost every ready-to-wear runway; varying by style, texture, color, applique and price. From designer to fast-fashion, you could grab a bomber at any price point.

Personally, I love how this Fashionista continued her look with this jacket. This cozy military look has me inspired to take on this winter season! Stay warm and keep positive during these last few weeks before finals!
