STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Secondhand Letters

For every sorority girl, letters are something to wear with pride. On one hand, they are something that displays unity. On the other, they are also an opportunity to flaunt individuality. In my time in college, I’ve seen letters done up in every pattern and color palette under the sun. However, this Fashionista put a different twist on the traditional, stitched-on letters.

This Fashionista’s RAD denim button-up is actually secondhand. (Gasp! No Way!) Who says secondhand can’t be chic? She snagged it off a website where Theta Phi Alpha sisters from all over sell shirts and other sorority-related clothes they no longer want or wear. As someone who’s not Greek, I think it is really cool that sisters from different chapters can swap clothes which each other. The letters are embroidered in white, in a very monogram-like font. Who doesn’t love that?

She pairs the one-of-a-kind top with khakis, a statement necklace and a pair of brown wedges. This outfit could easily be dressed down with Converse or Sperry Top-Siders, or dressed up with a skirt and fancier heels, depending upon the occasion.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “Have a good sense of what you like and what you feel comfortable in. A great pair of khakis is a must-have in your closet because of the versatility and statement necklaces are a really easy way to tie your whole outfit together. Having simple pieces that you can work everything else around is the key to forming endless outfits.”
