STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Punk Princess

Everyone has approximately 87 band T-shirts in their closet, therefore, we all can relate to how difficult it can be to style them without looking sloppy. This Fashionista is putting us all to shame by making it look effortless. Her punk style shines through, while still staying on trend. Anyone who has attempted this knows it takes true talent.

Our featured Fashionista’s outfit is based around her vintage Metallica shirt. However, her very seasonally appropriate plaid cardigan is really what allows her to pull off the “I don’t care” vibe. It’s the perfect frame for her timeless top. Her jeans, which are ripped at the knee, also add a significant boost to her coolness factor. My personal favorite piece of her outfit is her timeless pair of Dr. Martens. These have been a staple in the wardrobe of every rocker for several decades, and for good reason. I, for one, have my eye on a pair of low-tops. Dr. Martens and band T-shirts go together like peas and carrots.

This look would not be complete without the perfectly imperfect beauty aspect. Her expertly disheveled hair is precisely what I strive for, only I end up looking like a sheepdog. Her minimal makeup balances out her otherwise hard outfit. The real key, though is the lipstick. Our Fashionista’s shade of “greige” is the perfect tone for her skin color. I’m way ahead of you on stealing this look; I’ve already placed an order with LimeCrime for their liquid lipstick in the shade Cashmere, which I think is a pretty close match with just a bit more pink to it.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I guess just to wear what you want to, and to let your personality show through your clothing. Also, don’t limit yourself to one type of style.”
