STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Pretty In Pink

The top ten color trends of spring/summer 2016 have us both excited with bold, bright colors like Buttercup and Fiesta, and relaxed with more serene colors, like Lilac Grey. This summer, it’s all about outwardly expressing individuality by making a color statement. The Pantone Color of the Year Award was granted to not just one, but two spring/summer colors. One of those colors is Rose Quartz, a light shade of pink, which coordinates a warmer, compassionate composition.

At first glance this hue of pink might give off a feeling of color association, but a closer look will reveal this color embodies peace, social harmony and gender fluidity. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “With our culture still surrounded by so much uncertainty, we are continuing to yearn for those softer shades that offer a sense of calmness and relaxation.” Rose Quartz has dominated on the runway in designers’ collections like Tommy Hilfiger, Rochas and Burberry. The soft pink has been incorporated in both female and male streetwear attire, answering the age-old question: guys can wear pink too!

This lovely Fashionista sports the trend in a mini crepe dress with a split neckline. She pairs a metallic snakeskin clutch, one simple silver ring and nude flats to complete the effortless look. The loose, drapey Rose Quartz dress is perfect for summer because it’ll keep any Fashionista cool in the hot sun.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Be yourself. Express your innermost strengths through your clothes. Never be afraid to try something new because who knows, it could be the next trend you are predicting.”
