STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Palm Trees and Summer Steez

It’s nearing the end of summer, and in the faint distance I can hear the clacking of my professors fingers on their computers, typing up their syllabi that will soon be the sole reason I have no social life. By this time of August, most of you are back from your vacations, longingly looking at your camera roll and wishing you were still in sunny California or the beautiful oceans of the Caribbean. When I saw this Fashionisto walking down the street wearing a super rad button-up with palm trees and his fedora hat, I knew he was feeling post-vacation depression too. Growing up in a town full of snowboarders and skater boys, I learned a thing or two about their lingo. Steez is the definition of mixing the words style and ease, to describe someone’s gnarly tricks on their boards. But, when I saw this Fashionisto, it’s the only word that came to mind. He effortlessly had the best style I have seen walking through the streets of Center City.

This summer, a big trend between both men and women are the playful button-up shirts. This Fashionisto’s shirt is the main look of his outfit, and it really makes him stand out in a crowd because of the fun pattern on it. This shirt is trending, especially with men, because of the versatility it has. Is it a little breezy? Button the shirt all the way up. Is the weather so hot that even the devil himself couldn’t stand it? Unbutton that shirt, boy! It’s a very convenient shirt to wear during vacation as you’re walking to the beach and also in places like the city, where it’s unacceptable to be topless in the streets. Overall, the short sleeved button-up is essential to any summer look!

Pairing his patterned shirt with some cute-but-comfy mid thigh shorts, the Fashionisto tied his look together with his classic boots. Another part of the look that I’m digging is his fedora hat, wearing it to block his face from those harmful UV rays on one of the hottest days this summer. Adding a little flare, he wore his stylish glasses, a silver watch and a simple silver ring to complete the look.

As this summer is coming to a close, there’s no need to fret. Follow in this Fashionisto’s footsteps and wear summer on your shirt! It keeps you calm, cool and collected while you are internally freaking out about how school is starting in a few weeks and you don’t even have a pen yet. Stay beautiful and have a #RAD last bit of summer!
