STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Over(all) It

Overalls of all kinds have come in and out of fashion for decades. Recently, they have been another major comeback in styles ranging from dresses to shorts and every length in between. No longer reserved for the farm, the diverse colors, fabrics, and distressing of overalls have allowed for fun and chic looks to pop up on campuses all over the country. Although it may be intimidating at first to pull these off, incorporating them into your style is not as difficult as you may think.

As a recent purchaser of a black overall dress, I have officially hopped on the trend and am excited to try new looks out. However, I cannot help but be slightly jealous of those who effortlessly rock them. This Fashionisto, for example, expertly pulls off a chic twist on this trend. The black distressed overalls over a white T-shirt create major contrast while keeping the outfit in neutral colors. The white sneakers pull the look together by sticking to the two-tone vibe, and the patterned socks add an element of interest and fun. As a whole, the look is very minimal and chic, but fun and playful at the same time.

Overalls were intimidating for me at first, but once I found a way to fit it in with my personal style, I have started to love the look. If black or denim bores you, try a crazier color and experiment. Trends can feel like everyone looks the same, but by incorporating your own touches, like this Fashionisto, you can make them feel like your own.
