STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: New Kid on the Block

The ’90s were a time of iconic fashion trends and our favorite school girl Britney Spears. Some of the best fashion trends from this decade are making a comeback, and as a millennial, I could not be more excited. Today, I am specifically referring to embroidered denim jackets.

This Fashionista is featured wearing a vintage denim jacket from Planet Hollywood in Phoenix, Arizona, circa 1993. Not everyone is lucky enough to own a true ’90s artifact, but thanks to Urban Outfitters, anyone can recreate this look.

Urban Outfitters has an Urban Renewal line, which consists of vintage clothing pieces, including embroidered denim jackets. You can also purchase individual patches that can peel and stick to your own denim jacket for a DIY vintage, original piece. Local thrift stores are cheap and crawling with vintage pieces, so be sure to check there also!

The denim jacket is paired with a casual boyfriend T-shirt, leggings and cute sneakers. Plain T-shirts and black leggings should be a staple in every girl’s closet. Nothing is simpler or more comfortable than throwing on a T-shirt, leggings and walking out of the door. Cute but comfortable sneakers should also be a fall staple. They are perfect for adventures with lots of walking—like amusement parks, museums and concerts—while also being very fashionable.

The denim jacket is the statement piece, so the key for the rest of the look is to compliment the jacket without detracting from it. By selecting dark leggings, neutral sneakers, and a soft colored T-shirt, this Fashionista allowed the denim jacket to be the main focus.
