STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Military Neutrals

July 11th, 2016 at 2:00am

Attention! With normcore on the rise, neutrals are having a major moment. It’s easy to see why: they work overtime as an unofficial uniform and style statement. Tired of the same old black, white and grey? Mix things up with a touch of on-trend military green.

This Fashionista stayed glam in the sweltering weather by pairing an oversized vest with a breezy black tank top. Vests are one of the easiest and coolest ways to beat the heat while still looking stylish. Bonus points for ones that feature pockets, ties or funky zippers.

With ‘90s bohemian taking center stage this season, staple pieces like these are waiting in the wings. Military is a trend that resurfaces again and again, for good reason. It can be styled as a neutral while standing on its own.

In addition to flowing tank tops, slim-fitting white jeans are a good way to balance out proportions. They’re more appropriate than, say, shorts for work, but cool enough for a few hours in the sun. White also adds a splash of glamour and lightness to the rest of the outfit.

The finishing touches? A pair of strappy white and silver heels, an eye-catching ring and a quilted leather bag. Up your game with fun, simple accessories that won’t weigh you down, but that infuse personalized touches in your outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always add something to your outfit that represents you. To look in my closet, my style would appear more French-inspired, but I also have a big thing for pearls, anything that sparkles and edgy jackets and shoes. I try to incorporate at least one of these pieces into every outfit to take any trend or style and make it more ‘me.'”
