STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Let’s Talk About Sports, Baby

Throughout the decades we have seen it all trend-wise; from short flapper-style skirts and dresses to the blasphemous pant suits to tight dresses. Now, being 2015, we seem to have found a fusion of styles to mix and match, no decade is off limits. With that being said, one increasingly popular trend has come into play recently; that being the sporty-chic style. Joggers, graphic leggings, quirky sweatshirts and leather everything are just a few of the items needed to complete this look.

There are so many different ways to sport this look. You can dress it up or down, from day to night. This look gives way to the progressively androgynous world we live in today. We have started to lean towards comfort, but without having to sacrifice style. We saw hints of this in the ‘50s with sweatshirts paired with skirts and Ked-style shoes. More recently we have seen this all over the spring/summer 2015 runways, as with Yerse, Lacoste and crowd favorite, Public School. There are so many different textures, shapes and colors at play here that contribute to it being adorned by such a copious amount of people in the real world. Not to mention many are not scared to rock this look because they know they can style it in whatever way they feel comfortable.

How is one way you could easily wear this look? This Fashionista wears a knit black crop top lined with a striped collar and sleeves. Keeping up with the trends, her midi skirt provides a nice length and the color keeps it looking clean, with a pop of black to match her top. She pairs this look with simple gold sandals, a vintage black purse with gold accents and dusty pink, round sunglasses. This look is sporty, yet keeps her looking chic and cool.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always pair crop tops with a high-waisted skirt or pants if you don’t feel comfortable showing a lot of skin.”
