STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Knit Is It

Happy March Fashionistas/os! Spring has most certainly sprung here at Rowan University and the weather has brought with it some fabulous outfits.

My favorite thing to look for when shooting for CollegeFashionista is a statement item that complements the season. This Fashionista absolutely killed it in this army green jacket. The jacket may look plain from the front, but it pops with a colorful and textured knit back.

This statement outerwear piece is light enough to be worn on one of New Jersey’s warmer March days. This Fashionista wears a black tank bodysuit and some ripped, cropped jeans from American Eagle Outfitters in preparation for some crazy temperature fluctuation. She can also layer some articles with more coverage underneath her jacket in the winter months for maximum warmth and comfort.

Army green is among a few earthy tones that have been flooding the outerwear department of our fave stores over the last few winter seasons. This Fashionista definitely adapted this trend and made it her own. The absolute best part of this look is that the Fashionista practically stole this jacket at a 60 percent off sale at Anthropologie. I sure wish I got that memo!

Another thing that made this outfit stand out is all of the hippie-like accessories. This Fashionista rocked a classic pair of green Birkenstock sandals with a beaded necklace wrapped in layers around her right ankle. I have to add that the colorful necklace and anklet balance out with her super cute tattoo on her left shin! This Fashionista topped off her look with some more green (see: some bomb sunglasses from Urban Outfitters) and a few handmade layered necklaces that she bought locally.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “A cool jacket is special. It’s the main event, so the rest of the outfit has to be created around it. My favorite thing about fashion is having part of an outfit in mind and playing around with the rest until it looks just right.”
