STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keeping It “Cool”

The transition from spring to summer can make picking out an outfit frustrating in the Midwest. On Tuesday, it may be 70 degrees and sunny, but on Wednesday, you wake up to find it’s raining, windy and cold. The most important thing to remember is to keep it balanced. If you decide on a short sleeve shirt, then you probably want to pair it with pants, and if it’s a long sleeve shirt, shorts might be better.

This Fashionisto’s style is the perfect representation of the balance that can be difficult to find. Not only does the outfit work with the weather, but it was interesting and unlike most Fashionistos you see on Stout’s campus. His shirt is engineered by Without Walls, a new fitness brand from Urban Outfitters, and you can read more about it here. His shoes are bright white, so how could you not notice them? And, of course, they are Jordans, but not like what you usually see. They have a more sophisticated tone. Finally, a simple pair of blue jeans from American Eagle Outfitters complete the look.

Don’t let the weather stop you from expressing yourself. There is almost always a way to make an outfit work. Another great way to make your outfits work in the seasonal transition is to layer. Carry a sweatshirt or sweater with you. You just have to be patient with mother nature and be willing to mix and match.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Wear something that you are comfortable wearing. It doesn’t matter what other people think of you. If you are comfortable wearing it, then do it.”
