STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Having a Menswear Moment

And we’re back! Second semester is in full swing and unlike the first semester’s warm welcome, the temperature outside is anything but inviting. Suddenly, casually strolling to class becomes a high speed sprint in order to avoid the blistering cold. Every year at the start of the spring semester, your bed seems to beacon you back to your dorm and watching the first 10 season of Friends on Netflix, in your cozy sweats, starts to become your favorite past time. Your campus is your own personal runway and your fashion show shouldn’t stop just because it’s a little chilly out there. Being comfy and fashion forward is more than possible if you incorporate menswear inspired looks into your personal winter style.

Guys love to be comfy and stylish and their clothes definitely reflect that, so why can’t us girls jump on the band wagon too? I saw this Fashionista walking around campus and was impressed with her uplifting attitude and killer menswear inspired outfit. Her comfy boyfriend jeans look adorable cuffed up over a pair of black combat books. She wears a warm solid colored sweatshirt under an oversized tailored coat and looks super stylish while staying comfortable and warm.

This winter, masculine is the new feminine and this popular trend has been popping up all over campus. From tailored box shaped coats, to combat boots, oxfords and plenty of plaid, this look should be one of your go-tos when it comes to staying warm and looking chic all winter long.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I wear a lot of menswear inspired pieces especially oversized flannels in the winter time. They are really cute and keep me nice and warm. Pairing it with some sparkling jewelry will help add a touch of femininity to your menswear inspired look.”
