STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Grunge

March 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

There is no denying the incessant urge we occasionally have to get up each morning and coordinate our outfit according to the wardrobe of Kylie Jenner before her drastic change into a more sophisticated glam. Looking effortless-chic, many grunge looks are seen with the usual plaid oversized button-up shirts and ripped knee, dark wash jeans.

Such a causal look is exactly what this Fashionista had envisioned when dressing for comfort before heading off to a day full of classes. In a dark navy and forest green micro plaid flannel, black crop top, black skinny jeans, a gray knit scarf collar and dark brown combat boots, she succeed at her goal for creating a comfortable, casual grungy look. Accessorized with a Philadelphia University hat and silver and gold jewelry, she gives an added element to this trend. This Fashionista’s personal style radiates through this look of her exotic fun character.

Although this trend is generally seen in warmer weather, this Fashionista proves that there is a loophole to just about every wardrobe rule. The aspect of layering is a very important feature of the grunge trend, as it adds to the disheveled “I didn’t try so hard” aspect of the entire look. This element allows you to add and subtract just about however many pieces you want. With that many options, just about anyone can formulate their own rendition of this trend.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Stay true to your personality. There is nothing worse than someone posing as something they are not. Just be you! That’s always the best practice.”
