STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fringed and Fancy-Free

Cue the fur vests and felt hats, the ‘70s are back in style! With the advent of winter upon us there has been a resurgence in some of the iconic looks from nearly 30 years ago on the runways and in stores. Most notably the trends of fringe and suede have been popping up not only on fashion models but also students all over Denver’s campus. Ankle boots have gone in and out of style and currently are on their way back in but with some major style updates. Topshop specifically, is calling for a ’70s-inspired revamp for ankle boots.

Recently, ankle boots featuring fringe and suede have been spotted all around college campuses and Denver is no exception. One reason these ankle boots with a ‘70s twist are super hot right now is because they are comfortable and easy to pair with multiple types of outfits. This Fashionista is totally on-point with this trend by pairing her fringe ankle boots with a warm wool trench coat and high-waisted skinnies. She adds some contrasting color to her chestnut boots with a burgundy Calvin Klein bag, but the look would not be complete without her chunky statement necklaces.

The real magic of this ensemble comes into play with the seamless way in which this Fashionista paired her colors, fabrics and accessories in order to evoke a feeling of richness into her look. Her look is perfect for going to class on a chilly day but also sophisticated enough to go to a business casual internship. On a snowy day this look can also be worn with thick knitted socks and a beanie for extra warmth. Ankle boots with fringe even do double duty and can be worn in the spring with knee-high socks and a flowy tunic for a more laid-back vibe.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “What I love about these boots is that they are super comfortable for walking to and from classes all around campus. In order to highlight my boots, I usually pair them with something sleek on bottom such as dark skinnies or army green joggers.”
