The faux fur trend has risen in popularity over the past several years, partially due to its cool, soft (so soft!) aesthetic and finish. However, another important reason for its rise in popularity is due to animal rights activism and the importance in protecting our animals. The beauty of faux fur is that it’s affordable, comes in a variety of shades, and can add just a carefully calculated but totally edgy and one-of-a-kind touch to any outfit.

In this look, our Fashionisto takes this ‘furry’ trend and makes it into the focal feature of his outfit without overwhelming the look. This head-to-toe (nearly all) Zara look starts off with a Zara gray wool trench coat, a pair of faded black Chinos and white tennis shoes to offset the predominantly dark and gray shades seen throughout most of the outfit. With a white collared undershirt, this Fashionisto wears a vintage, Russian ribbed grey sweater on top of it for a formal, business-like touch. Last, but certainly not least, the Fashionisto added and adjusted the separate faux fur piece to the sweater at the neckline for an asymmetrical look. The gray and brown tones of the fur blend in perfectly with the overall, gray and black color scheme that is going on throughout his outfit.

The cool and exciting part of faux fur is that it can be worn in any way! While our super-hip Fashionisto decides to wear it around his neck, in a very unusual BUT totally unique and enigmatic way, some people prefer faux fur in larger doses (think coats!) and others in smaller bits (think little keychains!).

For those who dig the faux fur aesthetic, this beautiful, baby-pink Mongolian Faux Fur Coat would work perfectly, especially with the black design trim. On the other hand, if that’s too much faux fur for you, not to worry—these edgy lace-up booties allow for a small pop of faux fur, and because they come in a Marsala-like color (Pantone’s color of the year), you’re sure to be on trend. Of course, for the accessory-fantactics, this stole scarf would work very similarly to our Fashionistas faux fur neck piece, and could be worn a winter coat or even a denim jacket if you’re looking to step outside the box. Now if you aren’t too onboard with the whole faux fur trend, then an honorable mention goes out to this extremely cute keyring which can be added to any backpack or purse and will just absolutely brighten your day! I mean look at it – it’s so cute!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Have a versatile style, but stay true to you. Don’t be afraid to take risks or look different. I like mixing patterns, prints and the like and just by adding this little fur piece, this outfit has a completely different look and feel to it. Be willing to make trends than follow them.”
