STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Down to Business

It’s that time of the year again, finals are over and summer is FINALLY here. This can have different meanings for college students. For those still in undergrad, that might mean going home for the summer and working, or maybe you have recently graduated. If you’re like me, all of your hard work to find an internship has paid off, and you’re one step closer to the “real world.” There is a lot of emphasis on first impressions. In other words, you have to dress the part. Regardless of summer plans, at some point dressing professionally will become essential.

You can never go wrong with a few of the basics. A black pencil skirt is something every girl should have in her closet. Pencil skirts can be paired with anything from tights to blouses to blazers. This Fashionista pairs the skirt with a white blouse and a black blazer.

Some companies require their employees to be walking around most of the day, so wearing a comfortable pair of shoes is a must. Shoes with a kitten heel are easy to walk in, and this Fashionista’s gold accent is classy and professional. Pair them with a neutral handbag and necklace with just enough sparkle, and you’re set for the work day!

Looking professional and presentable does not have to mean looking boring. Whether you’re in the office, or walking around the city, adding in your own hint of style can make your work day go by that much faster.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The great thing about dressing for work is that professional clothes are naturally flattering, which makes it easy to incorporate your own style.”
