STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: DIY Denim

Jeans are without a doubt one of the most omnipresent pieces in our everyday wardrobes. The most common versions consist of skinny, boyfriend, boot cut and high-waisted styles. Although there are many different options out there, denim can get monotonous. The truest of Fashionistas should add a twist to their denim. To achieve a special, exclusive look, try DIY-ing an old pair of jeans. You can add studs, lace or even pieces of fabric. I found a Fashionista sporting the cutest jeans that she embellished herself.

The Fashionista transformed a pair of high-waisted jeans by sewing on vintage-inspired fabrics. She added them on below the knees to maintain a slimming effect around top. Smart and stylish!

As if the jeans weren’t already cool enough to stand alone, the Fashionista continued to impress me with the rest of her outfit, which evoked a unique, vintage-chic vibe. She started by layering a basic black T-shirt with a cozy cable knit cardigan. She then topped it off with a vintage green jacket with eye-catching folk-inspired embroidery.

The Fashionista polished off the look with eclectic yet down-to-earth accessories. Layered necklaces and black motorcycle boots provided some edge to her bohemian apparel.

Overall, this Fashionista obtained a one-of-a-kind, vintage-inspired look. It is safe to say that I am lusting after every element of her outfit. One can only dream of emulating this ensemble, but it is worth a try. Start with a pair of patchwork jeans, followed by a long cardigan and an embroidered coat. You will be the epitome of boho chic.
