STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Criss-Cross Summer Into Fall

Just because the official start of fall is in less than a week away, it doesn’t mean you have to put all of your crop tops in the back of your closet just yet. Being college students, we have to learn how to make and recreate several outfits with individual articles of clothing to the brink. Let’s be honest, a lot of us don’t know when the next time we’re going to get the chance to splurge on a shopping day (ha, do those even exist when you’re in your twenties?) The rules say you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day, but nobody says anything about wearing your summer clothes in the fall. This is me, telling you to do it. The fashion police will not come for you…well, as long as you don’t do it wrong.

Take this week’s Fashionista for example, who took her favorite crop top and layered it with a chiffon baseball jersey. Button-down anything is great for mashing together summer and fall, because it’s convenient and less dramatic throwing a hoodie over your head (which can do one of several negatives things, mainly messing up your hair.) She is also sporting a classic pair of black-washed jeans that are ripped at the knees.

She goes on to accessorize with black and gray color-blocked Air Max ’90s, a unique sneaker perfect for casual wear around campus. This Fashionista did such a great job with contrasting her darks and lights by emphasizing them with gold jewelry that accented her two golden fingernails. She completed her look by bearing some of her body art, such as the Pharaoh key of life tattoo found on her hand.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “It’s never too early to start dressing for fall, especially in this weather. The transition from summer to fall is perfect for layering clothes and accessories. You can still show off skin while being comfy with the cool breeze.”
