STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Brunch In The City

In New York City, weekend plans almost always include going to brunch. I happened to stumble upon this Fashionista doing just that. She was on her way to meet some of her friends to catch up on the week’s events. With finals in full swing, this graphic design student barely has any time spent outside of the computer lab. When the time finally came to catch up, she made sure to dress for the pictures that were likely to follow.

This Fashionista was perfectly dressed for the unpredictable weather in New York. She is wearing black distressed skinny jeans paired with open toe black wedges. On the top, she is wearing a mustard colored sweater and a black bomber jacket. To top off the look, she went with a black choker and a dark red lip. All of these elements in the outfit are basics, but when you pair them together you get a killer outfit. An aspect that I loved was how the sweater color complemented her hair and also brought out the gold zippered elements in the jacket.

The pieces in this Fashionista’s outfit are all essentials in a trendy girl’s closet: First, a comfy sweater that complements your skin tone. You want to make sure to find one that is a bit looser and doesn’t blend with your skin tone. Next, a pair of black skinny jeans. If you want to show a little skin you can opt for a distressed pair. For the colder weather, you might want to have a pair that is thicker and doesn’t have holes in them. Then, a pair of black wedge booties. A little heel will make your legs appear longer and is always fun for a special occasion. My favorite pieces are the bomber jacket and the choker. A bomber jacket is perfect because you can have one that is lighter weight to wear as a layering piece or a thicker one for those brisk winter days. A choker can bring together any outfit. I suggest starting with a black velvet one and then add a lace one for a special occasion.
