STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bomber Than You

It is unbelievable how fast this semester has gone by. Even though midterms and wind chills are around the corner, Fashionistas/os here at UNCG do not disappoint. There are tons of Fashionistas/os who are dressed and ready to do a shoot here, but Fashionistos like this guy really stand out. Not only is this look classic, it’s inspirational, like Kanye, his fashion idol. Judging by his recent ready-to-wear line, Kanye has a little obsession with sports luxe and we’re all just as intrigued.

Everyone admires something about Kanye, whether it’s his ambition or his high influence on the fashion and entertainment world. This leather bomber jacket is an awesome twist on the ’90s trend. Leather jackets are usually black and their silhouettes made to fit the blazer style, but this bomber jacket introduces the trend in a way that’s more wearable. This Fashionisto based the rest of his outfit on the cognac staple. Bold pieces like this go well with very minimal pieces like this white button-down shirt. White shirts make everything look fresh and put together. Paired with dark blue denim jeans that are perfectly distressed, the look is classic and fit for a GQ ad. They’re not so ripped that the grunge feel interferes with the smoothness of the jacket and shirt combo. It’s just the right touch to give the look more character. To finish every great mens outfit are a pair of suede boots, a watch and a pair of aviators. I’d say this Fashionisto nailed this look, down to the fresh haircut. Kanye may have a fashion prodigy to look out for now.

So to get this look, pick up a jacket that’s a little bit out of your comfort zone and start from there. Fashionistas can channel they’re inner “Mrs. West” and go for a total nude colored outfit paired with the leather jacket. Or if you’re feeling something more subtle and less grunge, a duster cardigan would tone down the look perfectly.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Anything that Kanye wears, I try to make it coincide with my style. GQ is a huge inspiration of mine so a combination of the fashion-forward attitude of Kanye and the dapper vibe of GQ is what I strive for.”
