According to urbandictionary.com, Birkenstocks are defined as, “sandals worn by liberals and women in Vermont.” To be honest, the only reason why I knew what Birkenstocks were before they came back in style is because my grandmother has worn them as long as I can remember. Many people might vouch that this shoe is the ugliest one ever to be made. However, Birkenstocks have been seen on the feet of numerous celebrities lately like Usher, Heidi Klum and Ashley Olsen. It’s safe to say that these “hippie” sandals are back with vengeance.
Now, you might be thinking that you want to try a pair of Birkenstocks, but there are so many colors and styles to choose from. What I love about these shoes is that there is something for everyone—whether you have a laid-back style or a bolder style, there is a pair of Birkenstocks for you. If you’re looking to make a statement with your new sandals, try a metallic or floral pair. If you want a simpler pair, try black or taupe to get started. I guarantee your “Birks” obsession will begin before you know it.
This Fashionista is rocking the white Arizona style of Birkenstocks. They match just about everything, but the bright white color makes a statement at the same time (they also look RAD on tan legs). This Fashionista wore this outfit out running errands one day. Wearing a dress when running errands is probably one of the best choices one could make because they are so comfortable for walking around for hours. This black tunic dress is a wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. She brought a denim button-down shirt to throw over the dress in case she got cold. And finally, the Birkenstocks are perfect for running errands all day because they are SO good for your feet with a built in arch (which is a god send for Fashionistas with flat feet).
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I’ve worn the same Rainbow flip flops as my go-to sandal for years. Birkenstocks are now my new go-to sandal because they are so versatile and so great for your feet, while also making a statement!”
