STYLE ADVICE: Keep It Simple

When in search for some style advice inspiration, I need look no further than my BFF! This chick is always keeping it simple, while looking trendy and chic.

We met our freshman year of college, and we’ve been friends ever since. We found that we had a lot in common including our love for Instagram, Target, pop culture, and fashion trends!

This Fashionista gets most of her clothes from Forever 21, because, like most college students, she’s shopping on a budget! She likes to buy solid or plain pieces so she can mix-and-match with ease. Even if the plain item you purchase is a little more pricey, it’s worth it because you’ll be able to wear it a lot and in different ways.

My fellow Fashionista is rocking some trendy high-top Vans with black, distressed, Zara skinny jeans. She paired her jeans with a solid, Forever 21, turtleneck sweater, and a gray, Brandy Melville coat. To complete her simple look, she chose to accessorize with a dainty gold Chicago necklace. She was sure to mention that she got all of these items on sale otherwise she wouldn’t have bought them (remember: college student budget).

With all of this in mind, the best style advice I could give you would be to keep it simple. By keeping the pieces of your outfit plain and simple, you can mix-and-match; thus creating new outfits. Top off your outfit with some dainty jewelry, and you’re ready for class! Using simple pieces will give you an effortless, yet stylish, outfit. This can also prevent someone from saying, “Didn’t you wear that last week?” As we all know, college often calls for a repeat of clothes. Laundry? What’s that?! I personally have a drawer full of the same black t-shirt from Target because, a) I can’t be bothered to wash clothes every week, and , b) I wear one every other day!  A plain black t-shirt is essential for an simple wardrobe, and they’re affordable. Overall, having simple pieces is the most practical fashion route for a college student on a budget!
