STYLE ADVICE: Fashion Basics

I think I can speak for any college student when I say that some days, we are just running late. And of course, the question eating away at our time is, “What am I going to wear?” We all have had those moments where we stare at our closet and only have thirty minutes until class starts. Have no fear! There are so many ways to dress up basic and classic clothing. You can just throw it on and go, while still remaining super stylish. Who doesn’t want that?

Take this Fashionista. What caught my eye the most was that her look was a mix of fashion forward and classic pieces. She started with black skinny jeans and a plain white T-shirt. To add some style, this Fashionista added a black and white plaid blanket scarf and a leather jacket to her top and bottoms. My favorite part about this look is her quintessential black heels. The heels are the perfect blend of the simpleness and chicness that I think define her whole look.

This particular outfit is a great example of the “running late” ensemble. Layering fashionable pieces over your plain clothing is an easy and clever way to trick people into thinking that you tried super hard to create your outfit of the day. All this Fashionista did was add a chic leather jacket, a blanket scarf, and some heels! It’s as effortless as that!

Now next time you are in a rush, whether on your way to class or to catch dinner with your best friend, just remember to mix your basic, classic, and fashion apparel items!
