STYLE ADVICE: All About the Shades

For most of us, spring is the harbinger of pastels, ruffles, and floral, but many of the S/S 17 runway shows steered away from these classic trends in favor of edgier style.

Junya Watanabe, Haider Ackermann, and Coach all focused on punk details, including leather and studs. Even the pinnacle of femininity, Dior, surprised with sexy cutouts and dark, romantic pieces embellished with bugs and tarot cards.

All-black outfits are instantly chic. Something about the shade makes you look sophisticated and put together, even in a simple outfit. Classic black jeans are a must in any wardrobe, and most Fashionistas will still have a pair in her closet from her winter uniform of black jeans and a leather jacket.

Black jeans aren’t only for pairing with a motorcycle jacket; this Fashionista updated the wardrobe staple with fresh, white Converse high tops and an off-the-shoulder top. She’s totally channeling a little bit of Olivia Newton-John in Grease with this bad gal, chic look. Meanwhile, her crop top is a double whammy with the built-in choker and bardot neckline.

The cherry on top of this stylish sundae are those awesome black and white sunglasses. It’s all about the ’60s vibe! The retro, rounded shape and unexpected pattern add a high-fashion edge to an otherwise minimalist outfit. A pair of fun sunglasses are a great way to add color or interest to an outfit, and they will quickly become your trademark look.

When you catch people staring, just glance over your awesome sunglasses and say, “Tell me about it, stud.”
