STYLE ADIVCE OF THE WEEK: Button-Downs

This Fashionisto is going for a more everyday look with a pair of Ralph Lauren swim trunks that can also be used as shorts, a red and white searsucker short sleeve button-down, socks and Vans. He also has on a Patagonia hat and a Vineyard Vines bracelet. In the summer it can be hard to always carry around swim trunks so wearing them as shorts is very practical and looks neat in an outfit. Although last year Sperry Top-Siders were his go-to everyday shoe, he has replaced them with sneakers. He wears tall Ralph Lauren red and blue socks that match the outfit.

His shirt, the subject of his outfit, can be tucked in to a pair of khakis and a tie to look more dressed up, but an also be dressed down as it is here. It also can look good with a shirt underneath and left open and to make a button-down look more sophisticated buttoning all the buttons is the way to go. A good cap like his is always good on a sunny day. I like it better when worn backwards occasionally, but the point is made. A short sleeve button-down is very easy to wear, makes more sense in the summer and will catch more peoples’ attention than a long sleeved button-down. Vans can be replaced with any kind of casual sneaker, including new balance, Converse or a nicer pair of suede or leather ones.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “To make a button-down look more sophisticated buttoning all the buttons is the way to go.”
