5 Ways You Can Wear Your Overalls

When you think of overalls, you automatically think of a farmer. Or maybe a pair your mom dressed you in as a toddler, specifically a third birthday party. Recently, however, overalls completely renewed their image and became cool again. You may be thinking, “I’m not some trendy fashion blogger, there is no way that I can pull those off.” Well, think again! Today, I’ll show you five fool proof ways to wear overalls and not look like you’re heading out for a day shoveling manure.

1—Edgy.

While the overalls in these five different looks are from Calvin Klein, I picked them up from Goodwill. Referencing the image above starting on the left is outfit number one. Here, I paired my overalls with a slouchy black sweater from Target and black combat boots from Kohl’s! You can also knot the sweater in the front so the overalls are more visible. I also decided to tie my hair up in a low bun so that the straps could be seen through the neck of the sweater. Adding these pieces gives off a more edgy vibe that isn’t normally paired with overalls, making it unique!

2—Street style.

For outfit number two, I went with a more wearable street style. Wearing a military jacket like the one I have on from Charlotte Russe tones down the look of the overalls. Mixing fabrics has been so in recently! Adding a fun lace tank top underneath from H&M makes for a great look if you want to take your jacket off if it’s warm out! With this look I also paired cute brown boots from Lucky Brand to make it even more trendy.

3—Casual.

For outfit number three, I decided to pair a graphic tee from Forever 21 with my overalls. I’m a huge supporter of women’s rights and it shows with this outfit. I let one of the straps hang so that the writing on my shirt would be seen. Along with this outfit, I decided to wear my high top white converse. I love the simplicity of the all white with a sporty vibe.

4—Scandalous.

Outfit number four is a more scandalous look but if done the right way, it could be super cute. I wore my favorite bralette from Francesca’s so that the overalls would be the focus point. This is also perfect for the super hot summer days. You can substitute the bralette for a bathing suit and that would make the overalls a coverup. With this outfit I also wore my high top converse again to make the look more casual and wearable.

5—Relaxed.

Finally, for outfit number five, this is definitely my favorite way to wear overalls. I wore a black and white striped mock turtleneck from H&M with my overalls. As well as my black hi top converse. This is my favorite of all the looks because it’s so simple and easy to put together. I felt so confident in this unique look I didn’t want to take it off!

I hope you’ve gathered new ideas for those old overalls sitting in your closet. If I’ve inspired you to style your own overalls, take a picture and tag @Cfashionista on social media!
