BEAUTY BAR: Winter Wines

As the semester is coming to an end, the cold season is coming to a start. I’m not exactly the biggest fan of winter weather, but I do enjoy staying home while watching the snow fall from my apartment window every once in a while. My favorite part of winter, however, is watching Fashionistas wear darker tones.

Since I rarely stray from wearing dark colors, I consider deep shades of red and violet extremely bold. I find wine-toned colors extremely captivating—especially when worn against the dull colors of Chicago winter. Incorporating hues like bordeaux and grape will make you stand out from the crowd this season.

Let’s keep in mind that we Fashionistas are not only masters of style, but can also be experts in beauty. With beauty being such a prevalent component to fashion, I went to scope out how Fashionistas are wearing dark tones in their makeup this season.

This Fashionista does a great job of enhancing her look with a wine-toned pop of color. Accentuating her eyes while keeping the makeup natural, she uses matte brown eyeshadow. Her mascara gives off a wispy and long effect to her lashes.

But the Fashionista does not just stop at doing her makeup to perfect her look! Her cosmetic color scheme beautifully ties in with her olive anorak being worn over a pair of plain black leggings. This is a great example of how versatile dark violet can be. Clearly, this Fashionista intends to finish off the semester in style.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Turn heads this winter by pairing your favorite dark lipstick (matte or glossy) with natural eye makeup. Try it out yourself to achieve a glamorous everyday makeup look!
