BEAUTY BAR: Makeup, Make Me Look Natural

I like to joke around sometimes and say “beauty is pain.” That is not always the case though. The past year has sparked an alternative beauty trend: all natural, no makeup. Celebs like Demi Lovato, Beyoncé and the Kardashians/Jenners are posting constant selfies on Instagram of their non-cosmeticized faces. And there is the talented Jennifer Aniston who advocates for natural beauty looks. With facial cleansing products and moisturizers a thing of the present, the push for natural beauty is upon us.

Seeing this Fashionista, (who is wearing a long-line T-shirt dress from T.J.Maxx, gladiator sandalss from Old Navy, bracelets from ALDO and rings from Forever 21) in passing reminded me of the natural beauty trend. Do not be mistaken, she is wearing makeup. However, it is minimal and it accentuates her natural beauty. The color scheme in the makeup she uses sticks to nude skin-toned products with hints of light blue for nail polish. Especially with Chicago’s humidity, the natural look complements the outfit by keeping it light and airy, just like the dress she is wearing. In the midst of the summer temperatures, this look works excellently.

In summer, the heavy clothes are put back into the closet, and the lighter, softer ones return. Likewise, makeup can do the same and transition from darker to lighter shades. With the days getting longer, natural beauty can stay on all the more. I would suggest the darker or fiercer beauty looks for those nights out to the bar or the club.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? This Fashionista used NARS tinted moisturizer, Sonia Kashuk bronzer, blush from Benefit Cosmetics, eye shadow from Too Faced and a pink toned Rimmel lipstick to get the accentuated natural look. To recreate this look for yourself, I would suggest a BB or CC cream instead of a foundation (both will provide an application that leans toward a breathable finish), a lightly applied blush and bronzer and mascara that doesn’t call for too much attention. With this look, don’t be afraid to use natural colors. A bold move to go natural is a bold look for this beauty trend.
