BEAUTY BAR: Less Is More. JK.

Every time I come home from college, my beauty routine tends to become more relaxed. Growing up in a rather conservative city in New England, sporting red lipstick wasn’t exactly the norm. (I learned this the hard way after sporting a fire red color to school and shortly after found myself trending on Twitter, and not in a positive way). Since leaving that bubble and expanding my wings, I have found that less is definitely not more. You never know who you are going to run into on a daily basis and you should always dress and look your best because of this. One way to leave a lasting impression is with a bold lip color.

In the summer, anything other than lip balm might lead to images of melting makeup, but fear not, this Fashionista nailed it. Red is always a go-to color but summer calls for some more spontaneity. To keep things interesting, this Fashionista went with a contrasting look of teal and pink. She also went with a teal color on her nails to keep the focus on her bold lip.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? When creating a bold lip look, you want it to be the main focus. For the face and eyes, you can cover any blemishes and add mascara for a clean base. If you want to take it up a notch like this Fashionista did, you can add a bit of black eyeliner to the top lid, some bronzer for a summer glow and bring out the brows with a tinted gel.
