BEAUTY BAR: Glitter Eyes

The fashion world is LOVING glitter right now. In the past few months we’ve seen glittered hair, glittered accessories, glittered highlighter and now glittered eyes.

Vogue is naming glitter eye makeup one of the top ten makeup trends for the 2016-2017 year. The stand-out look has made its way to runways and magazines all over the globe, taking on many different forms.

Burberry’s runway makeup artist Wendy Rowe commented on the glittered eyes we saw in their fall runway show, saying they chose to place large, oversized pieces of glitter on the outer corners and underneath of the models’ eyes. While Kate Spade has used glitter more subtly, applying just enough to add some sparkle to the models’ otherwise makeup-less lids.

Given that the trend is so versatile, I’d definitely agree with Vogue that it’s going to last at least through the snowy season. After all, the metallics, silvers and sparkles all seem to come out during the wintertime. A little subtly-colored glitter is a beautiful way to add some vibrancy to a classic, all-white winter look.

The Fashionista pictured chose a look that is more wearable than some of the runway looks when it comes to every day style, but still dramatic enough to stand out. She used Hard Candy Poppin Pigments in the shade Lock and Key for her glitter. (This specific glitter comes with a paired, second color glitter as well). She also filled her brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and lined her eyes with NYX’s Matte Liquid Liner in black to complete the look.
