BEAUTY BAR: Fresh-Faced Beauty

As the warmer months approach us, we can all say a happy goodbye to our full coverage winter foundations and dark smoky eyes. As a self-proclaimed makeup guru, I have been on the lookout for new creative summer trends that help me stray from heavy winter looks—especially when the weather is just sweltering heat, but I still want to look good without having my mascara run. So, when I spotted this flawless Fashionista, I had to stop her and ask what her secret is. Fortunately, she revealed her key beauty tricks for the summer heat.

The secret to her natural glow? Applying sunscreen before applying her favorite primer, Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer; a popular dupe is L’oreal Studio Secrets Professional Primer. The sunscreen not only gives you that glow but moisturizes and protects your skin from UV rays and wrinkles. After the sunscreen and primer dry, it’s time for more moisturizing. Yes, more moisturizing. While talking to this Fashionista, she emphasized mixing your foundation with a moisturizer. Her go-to was Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Moisturizer or an Olay Moisturizer. This little trick let’s your full coverage winter foundation be a more lightweight foundation. Now you don’t have to give up with tried-and-true foundation this summer.

After her skin routine, she brushed on some Hoola Lite Matte Bronzing Powder and a light application of a lipstick for a natural pink color. Personal tip: if you are dealing with hot weather and don’t want to have nude lips, always go for lip balm as a lip primer and then an ultra matte lipstick. Matte lips will stay on despite sweat. Also, make sure you do not apply too many coats, or the heat will make your lip color look goopy and runny.

So, don’t let the heat stop you. Explore bright fun eyeshadow colors like red or copper, and maybe pink, coral, or even orange lips. Just remember to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
