BEAUTY BAR: Curly Girl

Having curly hair myself, I always appreciate someone who is able to flaunt their curls with confidence. I have always struggled with my hair and it has taken years to find the perfect products to tame the mane. Summer is any curly girl’s enemy, so when I saw this Fashionista’s flowing hair, I was in awe.

As my fellow curly haired Fashionistas may know, there is an art to mastering the perfect curl. There are so many products on the market to try that it can take decades before you find the perfect combination of conditioner and gel. There’s no doubt that this Fashionista knows how to manage her hair. Having a similar curl structure, the best way to control our curls is to keep them long. The weight helps to prevent frizz and, in my case, the ultimate fro. The next best tip is to keep your hair moisturized. Curls can absorb a crazy amount of conditioner so don’t prevent them from quenching their thirst. A leave-in conditioner can really do the trick in making your curls silky and bouncy.

Finding the perfect gel can be tricky. You want something that will hold your curls in place, but not one that leaves you with a stiff and crunchy head of hair. This Fashionista seems to have found the perfect balance. Her curls are controlled, but are still very natural looking.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? If you have similar curls to this Fashionista, first apply a leave-in conditioner to wet hair. Without scrunching the water out, use a few pumps of a firm-holding gel. While not necessary, a styling cream can separate each curl, avoiding what can become a tangled nest of hair. While you shouldn’t brush your curls on a regular basis, a wide-tooth comb can sometimes come in handy when forming the perfect part.
