BEAUTY BAR: Classic Charm

This season, dark and nude lips are wildly popular and can be seen all over campus; however, nothing beats the classic that is the bright red lip. Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor were known for having sported the trend as early as the 1940s. As time has progressed, the famous shade has proven to be timeless. A lot of people, myself included, tend to have trouble figuring out when to wear it. The answer is simple—anytime. This Fashionista is not only savvy when it comes to style, but lipstick as well. Her makeup bag is filled with numerous nude, dark, red and even orange lipsticks. Whether it’s a night on the town or a day full of classes, her go-to is a bold red Revlon shade called “Really Red.”

When it comes to bright lip colors like red, this Fashionista prefers to pair them with an otherwise neutral outfit. She sports shades of tan beautifully in the form of a cozy turtleneck sweater and chic vest. She then finishes off her look with simple black jeans and suede ankle boots. She believes the simplicity of her outfit also allows the red lip to be the shining star of the ensemble and I couldn’t agree more.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To achieve a look similar to this gorgeous Fashionista’s, stick to minimal and natural-looking makeup. Choose a vibrant red lip color and you’ll be on your way. Glossy, matte and cream lipsticks all make for a beautiful and classic look that won’t fade. To ensure that the lipstick pops even more, assemble an outfit of neutral colored pieces.
