BEAUTY BAR: Choosing The Chop

“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life,” said by the wise and wonderful, Coco Chanel. She is exactly right. There is something so fresh and empowering about getting a dramatic haircut. Right now it could just be the start of the spring season, nurturing our desires for something exciting and new. Getting a shorter haircut is perfect way to start the spring, leading into summer with lighter, carefree locks. Then, by the end of August it will have grown out more for back to school. Cutting off your hair usually adds a feeling of lightness and creates a new start to damaged hair. This helps it grow back healthier and faster.

One of our top role models, Taylor Swift, recently cut her already shorter shoulder length hair even more, to about chin length, as seen on her April Vogue cover. Taylor’s chop is what inspired this Fashionista to make the change. Her hair was long, the ends were damaged and she simply needed a change, “It feels so much lighter! I love it.” Shorter hair is also easier to take care of, you’ll use less conditioner, it is easier to get knots out of it and it looks very chic.

If you are craving a dramatic cut, take time to surf the web, and of course, Pinterest *yay!* for inspiration. Talk to your stylist about what would look right for your face shape and hair thickness, she will have the knowledge to help you choose the right cut! If you don’t know what your face shape is, there are lots of resources online to help you. It is as simple as searching it in Google!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this Fashionista’s look, you’ll first need a new stylish cut. Then, try some cute hair accessories such as hair clips or bows. Don’t forget to protect your hair in the scorching heat with a heat tamer spray. To avoid the loathed tangles we are all prone to, stick with tangle-free hair ties.  If you have a special event coming up, try a hair mask!
