BEAUTY BAR: Bring on the Wing

March 29th, 2017 at 2:00am

Danger, there’s sharp objects ahead. No, I’m not talking about scissors or knives, but rather a makeup trend that has been catching people’s eye for a while. Winged eyeliner, also known as cat eye, is a classic beauty look that has been around since Cleopatra’s time. In Egypt, it was worn as a way to ward off the evil eye. Nowadays, anyone can wear winged eyeliner because it is perfect for every eye shape and can make your eyes look bigger and more noticeable. I have never attempted this look myself; I see it as one of the hardest skills to master. Therefore, I give props to college students who can accomplish the look before a 9 a.m. class.

This Fashionista can most likely be seen rocking winged eyeliner. The Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner is the perfect tool to create a sharp looking wing. She balances her eye look with bold brows, and a nude lip. To go with her bold eye makeup, she wears an edgy outfit that is comfortable for everyday. Wearing all-black is an easy way to get dressed in the morning, especially if you spend more time in the morning perfecting that winged eyeliner. The key to wearing an all-black outfit is mixing it up with different textures. Here, she wears a black leather jacket, black ripped jeans, and a black T-shirt.

Adding a wing to your eyeliner can create a little extra edge to your fashion look. If you’re scared of trying winged eyeliner, practice makes perfect. Try it on a day where you have more time to get ready. In no time, you will get down this classic yet edgy beauty look.
