Where are you going for spring break this year? Hawaii? A cruise to the Bahamas? Backpacking through Europe? Or perhaps you’re off for a stay at the most underrated all-inclusive there is: your childhood bedroom. A staycation, in my opinion, is one of the most under-appreciated ways to spend time off school. What could be better than staying home, relaxing, having homecooked meals, and discovering new places in a place that’s not so new?
If you’re staying home during spring break this year but you’re new to staycations, don’t worry, we’re here to help! We’ve assembled the perfect staycation checklist that has everything you need for the best week you’ve ever spent at home.
Is your favorite band or singer going on tour? Spend the money you saved by staying home and spend it on a concert ticket. Chances are it’ll be a concert you won’t forget. (Photo via @triciaacacho)
Treat yo self
Make a stop by that new coffee shop that opened while you were gone. Catch up with a friend over a smoothie bowl or try Boba tea for the first time. You could have just discovered your favorite new spot! (Photo via @lib_bart)
Spend quality time with a furry friend
For many of us, college means moving away from our family and friends; of course, this includes our pets. Take advantage of your time at home and spend it with your animal companions! (Photo via @oliviapienta)
Spend some time journaling, reflecting on the semester so far, dreaming up goals for the future and creating new ideas or projects that inspire you. (Photo via @sarahgargano29)
A staycation is the perfect time to catch up with friends and family that you don’t see often. Plan a fun activity or sit down and chat over coffee. There is nothing better than reconnecting after time apart. (Photo via @veronicaxque)
Plan a trip to the best museum, visit your preferred park or have a meal at your favorite restaurant. Staycation doesn’t mean stay still; get out there and explore! (Photo via @especiallychic)
Rest & Relaxation
This is the perfect time to sleep in, use a facemask and a pore strip, read that book you’ve wanted to read but haven’t had the time to. A staycation is all about you!(Photo via @abigailrena)
So maybe staying home doesn’t sound as glamorous as a trip to Europe, but I guarantee you’ll be left feeling refreshed, rested and inspired. Check off all these things and you’ll be ready to take on the rest of the semester with ease!
