ALL IN THE DETAILS: Winter Pastels

Typically, pastel colors are associated with springtime, while winter is for dark colors or in my case, strictly black. With only 14 more days until spring, it seems so close yet so far away. One thing is for sure though; it’s time for some color in our wardrobes.

Gucci’s fall/winter 2014 ready-to-wear show demonstrates stunningly elegant winter pastels in coats, dresses, pants and boots. Gucci manages to have an entire runway show look winter-appropriate, while featuring soft-hues. We are talking periwinkle, buttercup, blush pink, nude and mint green colors. What is the advantage to this trend? Not only does it create an elegant look, but it will also easily transition into spring.

This Fashionista is sporting a gorgeous periwinkle coat with a fur collar, creating a very stylish look. The white fur contrasted with the blue makes for a soft, feminine look. Here is a coat similar to this Fashionistas: a mint green coat or a blush pink one. She paired her coat with a flowing, white top and black knit scarf. She chose black skinny jeans, and a pair of nude, patent heeled pumps to add to the elegant look. While this is a winter look, she can easily trade the pants for a skirt and take off the scarf for it to be warm-weather-appropriate.

How To: Are you getting sick of the dark winter sky and an even darker wardrobe? Go out and buy a pastel colored item that will brighten up any look and translate perfectly into the spring. It can be worn with heels for an elegant look, dressed down with simple every day pieces or paired with a bold print.
