ALL IN THE DETAILS: Warm Winter Days

As the new semester starts, winter is in full swing. Oversize coats, cozy scarves, and furry boots are essential to the everyday wardrobe. Living in the Midwest can be a struggle during these winter months, but on occasion a warm day stops by and teases us (remember that this is Wisconsin, so we think that 40 degrees is warm). While I was home over break, on the more bearable days, I would try to get out of the house and explore my home city of Milwaukee.

Milwaukee has such great character and culture from the many local art galleries to the bustling public market, you never know what you will find people wearing. I can’t wait to see where the fashion scene that is emerging in Milwaukee goes.

This Fashionista was out and about in the historic Third Ward district during a sudden wave of nice weather. The Third Ward is the center of the fashion scene in Milwaukee, featuring everything from quirky thrift shops to high-end boutiques. Walking around, I instantly noticed how she took advantage of the warmth while she could and sported some cut out mom jeans and a black crop top. I have seen the fishnets-under-ripped-jeans trend popping up quite a bit in the fashion world and I loved her unique take on the trend. This Fashionista wore jeans with large cut outs that really showcased the fishnets. An aspect of this look is how the jeans balance the “sexiness” that is associated with fishnets with a more casual vibe. She paired this look with some black and white Vans and a green bomber. Her jacket also ads just enough color to make the look pop. I loved her simple gold accented jewelry as well.
