ALL IN THE DETAILS: The Little Things In Life

I saw a quote the other day that caught my eye. Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.” When it comes to dressing casual there is no need for crazy high heels that hurt to walk in or a tight dress that you have to pull down every second. Simplicity is key to dressing casual.

In this week’s article we will be exploring how less is more when styling an outfit. Clothes do not need to be in your face, instead; we can take the simple approach to style. This Fashionista focuses on little unique touches to make her outfit stand out. For starters, she has lace covering her kneecaps. This is clever and cute, and I am surprised we do not see more jeans like this out there. On another note, the beading on the top of her sandals are small, but add more to the outfit than regular flip flops.

The real stand out winner in my eyes is the triple necklace. She could have worn one simple long or short chain, but wearing a layered necklace really adds that extra wow factor to the outfit. It helps also that her hair is curled and she wore a simple pink Burt’s Bees shade on her lips for some color.

How To: This look is incredibly simple and fun to recreate, which is the whole purpose of this article. Grab a cute tank from your closet and layer some of your own necklaces, short to long. Curl your hair and put on any lipstick that highlights your tank. Instead of buying a new pair of jeans, try to create this look at home. Grab an old pair of jeans out of your drawer and look up some easy DIY’s on Pinterest. This will add time, but decrease cost immensely. Sandals can be store bought already or you can take an old pair and glue beads onto them. Voilà, simple sophistication.
